   Super sturdy and it couldn’t have been easier to assemble. I did it alone in about 10 minutes, from opening the package to finish. The instruction page is labeled with A, B, C, etc., but pieces were labeled 1, 2, 3. That said, it is very self-explanatory and they really aren’t needed. If you can’t figure out how to assemble this without step-step instructions, you really should be purchasing something that needs no assembly, lol. I don’t recall seeing it in the description, but there are floor protectors on the bottoms of the pieces. Warning, the box is HUGE and HEAVY (84 pounds)! Get some help getting it into the house. I managed to drag it in by myself, a middle-aged woman, but I don’t recommend it. I had one minor imperfection in the finish paint, but it likely came from UPS handling, as the box arrived with multiple holes in it (good thing it doesn’t have a screws package) where it looked exactly like UPS punched holes in it for handholds. I know others have complained about scratches, but really, who cares? It’s not like anyone’s going to see them once you have a mattress on it. If scratches on the legs, just get a bed skirt. This bed frame is a great value for the money, and it will also be easy to take apart again for any future moves. I can’t imagine there will be any creaking and groaning like complained of with the wood or wire platforms. Get this one! I love the extra room underneath that I can use for storage as well.

   My wife and I have Lorrick queen frame for about two years now. When I put together, I used a small amount of assembly grease in the fittings to ease pressing/malleting them together. Still squeek free to this day. I added some metal shelf corbels to corners to bombproof. The frame is amazing and just has four outer legs. This is a plus for me. Most frames have midway outer legs that I dreaded kicking on accident making the bed. It also makes it easier to slide things underneath.

   I assembled this bed in 20 minutes by myself. I do assemble a lot of furniture though… but this bedframe was labeled well and easy to assemble by just looking at the diagram.

   Very modern and clean look. Easy to clean under the bed and tons of room for storage. The small spacing between the wooden slats supports my mattress, making it comfortable and protecting it from sagging.

   Was so easy to put together and it holds the mattress in place. They have a long sticky strip at the top of the frame and the bottom to help hold the mattress into place as well. It is pricy but I’m glad I paid the extra few dollars as the last bed frame I bought from this company bent within weeks of using and almost fully collapsed. It also was in a million pieces so I was happy this one came in very few pieces.

   I gave this bed 2 stars before, because my center leg got bent just from normal use, but I am now giving 4 stars because Zinus sent me a new center leg, center support beam, and some new instructions for free! They wrote: “We do suggest on hardwood floor to use furniture pads under the legs to prevent the legs from slipping.” When I replaced my leg and beam, my old leg’s threaded bolt was barely bent. My advice: when you pound the center beam into the “Quick Snaps” with the included mallet, the last steps (6&7) of the frame instructions, do *not* pound it all the way in so that the leg foot touches the floor. Leave around 2 mm clearance, then put a furniture pad (or furniture slider) under the leg. That way if the bed slides during normal use hopefully the foot won’t catch on the ground and bend the leg; or else pads under all legs might prevent the bed from sliding at all. The 18-inch-high bed is great if it is safe because of the extra height for storage and just for sweeping and seeing under it. But I still would hesitate if I had pets or kids who could get under there. Here is my old review: “The cylindrical center leg just screws directly into the long metal center support beam, with no washer or plate to distribute load. If the bed slides even a little across the floor, the center leg will tilt. This happens in normal use, if you try to move the bed, or even if people moving on top of the bed cause it to shift. If the bed slides sideways even an inch, the threaded bolt at the top of the leg will try to twist that center beam. Something has to give. That center leg is just a prop that only works if it is perfectly vertical, but if the bed shifts and forces the leg to tilt, the hollow leg cylinder may bend and crumple inside, since the bolt is hidden. I do not know that this is what is happening! Still, I suspect I could tear out the leg just by hand, by grabbing it and pulling to the side. Whenever I look at it, it is tilted in a different direction just from the bed moving around. Look at your own center leg and even at the promotional pictures: the center leg looks slightly tilted even in the advertisements. If there is a design flaw, it could be particularly dangerous because the 18-inch-high frame allows children and pets to crawl underneath, plus you’ll fall farther. I’d love the bed if it were not a hazard, because I can see and sweep and store under it. But it seems dangerous and I have not slept well on it because I worry it’s going to collapse. I think there is a design flaw in that flimsy center support leg. The bed looks sturdy until you realize that those thick corner legs may give a false sense of security — I hope they are enough, because the center leg is gammy.”

   2024 Update (6 Years after purchase) I’ll keep this brief. The bedframe is super easy to put together and feels well made; however, it just doesn’t hold up. In 2021, I had to warranty the frame due to squeaking and broken welds. After minimal back and forth, I was sent a replacement frame at no cost as the frame came with a 5 year warranty. Fast forward to 2024, 3 more years later, and the replacement frame is having the same issue. Lots of squeaking and upon inspection, not just a single weld has broken but 1-2 welds at each corner has broken. I reached out to Zinus customer service to see if there was anything that could be done and they told me since it has been more than 5 years since the original purpose, there was nothing they can do. I understand. That said, considering I’ve had experience with two factory new frames both breaking welds, becoming unstable, etc at 3 year intervals, I find it hard to recommend this frame if it will be an every day use bed. Its a wonderful frame, easy to put together, and would be super in a guest room. But for an every day sleeper, either be prepared to replace it every 3 years or look elsewhere. 2021 Review (Owned 3 years) When we first got this king size platform in 2018, we were in love with it. It felt sturdy, didn’t squeak, gave ample storage beneath it, looks simple but sharp and was super easy to assemble. Over the past two years, it has developed squeakiness. Adult time has to happen in a certain direction on the bed to avoid super loud squeaking and give away the activity to the entire house and while annoying, it can be dealt with. Unfortunately, I took it apart recently in an effort to silence the squeaking through strategic placement of electrical tape at points where metal parts touch and I discovered that 1 side of all 4 of the points where the end and side pieces come together have a broken weld on the outside. I fear it is only a matter of time because the frame ultimately fails and drops us to the floor. When I looked at the warranty, which should be for 5 years, it gives a phone number to call but I can never get through. 🙁 All in all, the squeaking is annoying but tolerable. The fear that the frame will break totally at the broken welds and not being able to get through to the company is a real bummer. I was hoping, after talking to the company, that they could either send a replacement or give a credit so we could order a replacement from upholsteredbedframe.com. It truly looks fantastic and has wondrous space beneath it.

   It wasn’t super easy to put together but I managed to do so without touching the instructions. I later read them and found that I did inadvertently actually do each step properly. It’s been a few weeks and the sturdiness issue that stemmed from the assembly road block (the back corner wouldn’t snug properly into place) has since ceased. I love the amount of space you get with the clearance of 18″. I also love that there is only one support beam in the middle. Makes for a seamless and minimalist vibe. My tiny room appears larger with the open air below and I am obsessed with the height of which I sleep now. I had a 14″ before and yea, this is way better. Always make sure that your platform bed doesn’t have exposed midsection beams or supports that show. Trust me. You’ll end up with bed skirts galore. Plus the previous 14″ didn’t make the cut with storage, go for the 18″ and this is a perfect example!

    Fantastic platform. it comes w/ a mallet to assembly but I didn’t even need it. I just pushed the pieces together. The platform went together in less than 10 minutes, which was great, no screws, no fasteners, just snap together. The platform is taller than usual (I bought this on purpose and I like that since I purchased a thinner mattress. Also the platform doesn’t make any noise. Overall I’d highly recommend this one.

    *** 5.5 YEARS LATER *** *** SUMMARY *** I still very much love this frame. Initially, we had it on a corner of our bedroom up against a wall. The leg that it would pivot on right on that corner has now started squeaking after we have moved the bed to the center of the room. My thought is that perhaps that position may have affected the integrity of the bed. (Btw, climbing into my side of the bed against the wall ended up hurting my back after 5 years, which is the main reason why I wanted to move the bed. Its fairly tall and I’m only 5 ft, so something to consider if you’re wanting to do the same.) *** TROUBLESHOOTING *** So, after about 3 months of having moved the bed it has started squeaking a lot. So much so that my husband woke me up with his shuffling at night. So I inspected the frame, realized it was only that corner squeaking, cleaned it up with a wet wipe, noticed some chipping, added some WD-40, and assembled it back. It sounds much better, but not perfect. *** WARNING *** When I did one final spray with it assembled, I noticed that the WD-40 went through the welding. I also noticed bubbles on the leg. (See image for reference.) Not sure if it came like that, but could be a potential warning that the leg was weak to begin with. *** TIP *** I would advise you do a check of the welding with a squirt of water to make sure your welding is sturdy. *** CONCLUSION *** So, I don’t know how much longer the bed frame will last, but I’m glad it lasted us 5 years! I will probably consider purchasing again if we don’t find any other option because the storage under the bed is just a big win for me. (I actually initially thought all the storage under there might’ve been banging with the legs, but that wasn’t the case!) *** P.S. *** I initially spoke about the bed skirt that I had purchased being too short… I ended giving up my search and made my own bed skirt out of a drop cloth. It has worked great and definitely recommend! *** INITIAL REVIEW *** I got a full sized frame. This frame is doing great for us so far. Easy to install, comes with its own mallet. I was hesitant about getting a metal frame because I thought it would squeak, but it doesn’t squeak unless it’s really pressed up against the wall. My favorite thing about it is that it has so much storage space underneath. I bought a standard bed skirt to hide all the junk under there, but there’s still about 4 inches of visibility, which isn’t too bad. I haven’t looked into other bed skirts, so that might fix that problem.

    Have to say this was the easiest bed I ever put together. And you don’t have to worry about losing bolts, there aren’t any. No tools needed although they do include a pretty substantial rubber mallet to aid in the construction. Very sturdy, everything goes together pretty tight. The extra tough of the double sided tape (on two of the slats) so there is less chance your mattress will move. Overall a really decent overall value.
